Everyone meets at the car park

Potomac Pavilion · 9:30am

Families open one link on a phone. No app, no account, nothing to install — a grandparent can follow it as easily as a scout. Then everybody sets off around the same loop, at their own pace.

Stop 1

Shore trail

I have a seat, but never a rider, and wheels that turn, though I’m no glider. I’m RUSTY now, my racing done, parked by the shore out in the sun. Find me first, then look around — marker one is near my ground.

Found it. Under the old tractor by the water, low down near a wheel. The medallion says 2W — write it down.

Stop 2

Brambleton Loop

I’m not an island, though I’m nearly one — WATER wraps three sides of me when day is done. Follow the loop trail out to my tip, where the shoreline curves like the bow of a ship. Just left of the point, one tree stands low — marker two hides down where the roots would grow.

Found it. Out at the point, tucked into the roots of a low tree. The medallion says 4R — write it down.

Stop 3

Trail split — turn left

Where the trail splits, take the left way, and find a creek that’s DRY today. No water runs along my bed — follow me a ways instead. Low on a fallen branch, look near — marker three is hanging here.

Found it. Hanging off a fallen branch, a little way up the dry creek bed. The medallion says 5H — write it down.

Stop 4

Dotted trail

Halfway back along the dotted trail, you’ll find a line of giants, hard and pale. Big gray boulders in a row — HOP past the middle one you go. Just beyond the stones, look up, not down — marker four is hanging, waiting to be found.

Found it. Just past the boulders — above head height, which is why nobody saw it. The medallion says 3C — write it down.

Stop 5

Near the bridge

I let you cross without getting wet, a BRIDGE above the creek — a safe bet. But don’t stay up here where it’s dry, look down below where the low banks lie. At the loop’s south tip, near the water’s edge, marker five hangs low by the ledge.

Found it. Below the bridge, down by the water on the south side. The medallion says 1K — write it down.

The treasure

Opened together, at the end of the loop

The five codes make one passcode. Nobody can skip ahead to the treasure, because the page that holds it is genuinely locked — not hidden, locked — so the whole loop gets walked.

We’re twins of stone who never grew — no hinges, no key, yet we let you through. Step through our gap, but don’t stop, don’t stall, for we’re not the ones who hide it at all. Past us, THREE cousins wear coats of green — look low between them for what you’ve not seen!
